WIRELESS DIGITAL CONTROL FOR VALVE
ACTUATORS
The Rotork Pakscan P3 modular control system now offers
the addition of a network card option that enables users,
including control-room personnel, to communicate wirelessly with Rotork valve actuators both in and outside of their
plants.
PRODUCTS & PROJECTS
The wireless capability operates on the
2.4GHz frequency and
has a line-of-site operat-
ing range of approxi-
mately 70 meters indoors
and 1000 meters out-
doors. It includes built-in
web pages that provide an easy way for control-room
operators to access and extract important asset manage-
ment information such as actuator data logger and con-
figuration files without the need of having to manually
download the information in the field.
The new option gives Pakscan P3 master station users
the choice of fully wired, fully wireless, or a combination of
both wired and wireless capabilities.
To provide robust on-site communication, the wireless
option operates a meshing system that ensures all nodes
have the facility of at least two routes back to the master
station. If the normal traffic route is blocked, the network
will find another way to route the messages.

LOW NOISE TRIM
VALVES
Dresser Inc. is helping customers meet current noise regulation standards with the Differential Velocity Device (DVD)
low noise trim available as an
option on the Camflex valve. The DVD trim, combined with
the valve’s rotary globe design, cost-effectively decreases
valve throttling noise levels for improved operational efficiency and cost savings, which provides a solution for customers aiming to reduce the risk of noise-related injuries
and possible equipment damage.
This rotary globe design includes features such as an
eccentrically rotating, contoured plug and conical seat that
offer throttling control and shut-off capabilities. For noise
reduction, the DVD trim option decreases noise levels by 5 to
20 decibels over a wide range of service conditions. It is also
available in 1-inch through 12-inch valve sizes for use in
multiple applications and installations.

COILS FOR VALVES IN
HAZARDOUS
ENVIRONMENTS
Parker Hannifin has launched the
new ATEX-certified 37 mm electrical
coils for use on its Lucifer range of
stainless-steel solenoid valves as well
as the brass and aluminum X valves.
These coils further broaden the usability of these valves,
especially in the oil and gas, chemical and pharmaceutical
markets where environmental working conditions can be
very severe.
These brand new products are ATEX- and IECEX-certi-fied and are dedicated to stainless-steel 2/2, 3/2 valves as
well as 4/2 & 5/2 way valves. The “d mb” and “ia” ATEX-certified products meet T6 temperature classes, and the
stainless-steel fittings and the IP67 protection level permit
the new 37mm CPR range to meet customer needs and
applications where ambient constraints are hard, aggressive
and sometimes corrosive (e.g., explosive atmosphere, water,
salt, temperature, etc.).

ELECTRONIC VALVE
POSITION MONITOR
A self-diagnostic valve
position monitor that can
be used on on/off valves in
all fields of application is
the latest addition to the
Samson Control range of
valves and accessories. The Type 3738 electronic valve position monitor, which indicates end positions and controls
actuators, is a contactless, magneto-resistive sensor system
with an integrated microprocessor. It enables the valve position monitor to be configured simply by pushing a button.
This device works with a NAMUR signal in compliance
with IEC 60947-5-6 and is powered by a two-wire supply.
As a result, the valve position monitor can replace existing
solenoid valves and limit switches without the time-consuming process of changing wiring or signal levels. At the same
time, the monitor includes functions such as self-tuning and
diagnostics, thereby opening up a wide range of opportunities for control and asset management.
The supply air for the actuator is routed through bores at
the bottom of the housing, making additional tubing unnecessary and making it suitable for integrated attachment,
which facilitates mounting and guarantees exceptional
ruggedness. The contactless position sensor makes adjustments and moving levers redundant.
