SELF-CLEANING BALL VALVES
PBM’s self-cleaning ball valves incorporate engineered
technology, including Adjust-O-Seal up-stream sealing and a
flushable ball that thoroughly cleans all the internals of the
valve. Materials are completely removed from the valve
internals with a process line flush. This eliminates costly down time required to dis-
assemble, clean and reassemble traditional valves.
Adjust-O-Seal features in-line adjustment to compensate for normal seat wear.
This reduces maintenance and repair costs and minimizes system downtime by
increasing the time between seat replacements.

RELIEF VALVE LIFTS AT 10% OVERPRESSURE
Groth Corporation announces the new 1800A Series full lift type valve
for applications requiring low emissions and operation near tank maximum allowable working pressure (MAWP). The valve is a relief
valve that attains full stable lift at only 10% overpressure. It is
a modulating valve offering near zero blowdown and reseats at
near set pressure. Operating within 10% of the tank MAWP
greatly reduces the breathing losses of the product in the tank.
The 1800A Series valves performs better than the API Bulletin 2521 and ISO
28300 seat leakage requirements. Available in 2-inch (DN 50) through 12-inch (DN
300) flange sizes, this valve provides the user with reduced vapor emissions and better tank corrosion maintenance.

SANITARY CONDENSATE CHAMBER AND
STEAM TRAP ASSEMBLY
Steriflow, a division of Richards Industries’ Jordan Valves,
introduces the SSC Series sanitary subcooled condenser. This
patent-pending, ASME BPE 2007 compliant, sanitary conden-
sate chamber and steam trap assembly was designed to replace the 12-
inch to 18-inch downcomer (drip leg) traditionally installed between SIP tempera-
ture sensors and sanitary steam traps. The SSC reduces that height to 2. 4 inches.
The SSC can significantly reduce expenditures by reducing SIP temperature sen-sor/trap assembly TIC (total installed cost). It also reduces the cost for OEM process
skids and retrofit site-built installations with space limitations.
The product can also significantly lower the average annual SIP time by dramatically reducing the probability of SIP wetted temperature sensor faults and total heat-up time. The design makes it nearly impossible for spent condensate to touch (cool)
the SIP temperature sensor, and even less likely to cool (insulate) any process vessels
or equipment upstream of the trap, during heat up or temperature hold periods.

CORRECTION: In the summer issue of
Valve Magazine, we inadvertently ran the wrong photo
with Flowserve’s Durco Plug Seal valve (“New Plug
Valve Design Reduces Maintenance,” page 46). Here
is the correct image of the valve. Visit

designed for high-pressure applications in the seawater
reverse osmosis desalination industry.
