DRESSER MASONEILAN SELECTED
AS PREFERRED SUPPLIER IN
KOREA
Dresser Masoneilan has been named the preferred control valve supplier for Korea Hydro
and Nuclear Power’s Shin Kori reactors currently under construction near Pusan, South
Korea.

reactors will produce 1400 MW (megawatts)
each, making them two of the largest new
nuclear power plants in the world. Dresser
Masoneilan will provide control valves and

KUDOS
VMA MEMBER SUCCESSFULLY
DEFENDS INTELLECTUAL
PROPERTY RIGHTS
In China, Rotork has successfully defended its
internationally recognized trademark and
copyright to its intellectual property following
infringements by the copier company Shanghai Autork Digital Instrument Co. Ltd.
(Autork), also known as Greatork.
The Shanghai People’s Court of China also
found Autork guilty of engaging in unfair competition through the use of false publicity for
which they were fined the maximum amount
permitted by the court. The court ordered the
Chinese company to cease the infringements
immediately.
SUCCESSFUL SEISMIC TESTING
FOR FLOWSERVE VALVES
The Flowserve Durco extended bonnet cartridge
plug valves and McCanna top-entry cartridge
ball valves passed rigorous seismic testing on
their first attempt. Each valve was cycled
16,000 times with a pumped stimulant flowing
at 150 psig. Seismic tests included a 0-100
hertz resonance search, followed by six ran-dom-frequency, independent-excitation triaxial
seismic tests with up to three-G acceleration.
The valves will be used in the remediation
of nuclear waste. The waste material is chemically treated and vitrified to fuse the radioactive materials into impermeable glass solids,
which can be stored safely as the isotopes
decay and ultimately become harmless.
