Flowserve, Abahsain Building New
Saudi Arabian Valve Facility
Earlier this year Flowserve and the Abahsain
Group broke ground on a new mechanical seal
and valve facility at the Second Industrial City
in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. The joint venture,
first established in February 2009, includes
the local manufacturing of control valves, ball
valves, plug valves, butterfly valves and elec-
tric & pneumatic actuators for the oil & gas,
petrochemical, power and water industries.

ISO Accreditation
Dresser Masoneilan and Dresser Consolidated
have earned International Standards Organi-
zations (ISO) 14001 accreditation at each of
their manufacturing locations worldwide. The
divisions also received accreditation at each of
their aftermarket centers servicing the Ameri-
cas and Asia Pacific regions.

Control Magazine recently announced the winners of its 2010 reader-based awards.
Although companies in dozens of categories
were recognized, we’d like to congratulate
those members that came out tops in the four
valve and actuator categories.
Emerson Process Management, Flowserve,
Dresser Masoneilan, Samson Controls and
Metso Automation were winners in the Control
Valve category; Rotork Controls, Emerson,
Beck, Limitorque, AUMA and Metso Automation in the Electric Valve Actuator category;
Emerson, Flowserve and Dresser Masoneilan
in the Pneumatic Valve category; and Emerson, Metso Automation and Tyco in the On/Off

Garlock Wins ISD Green Product Award
Garlock Sealing Technologies received the
International Sealing Distribution Association’s (ISD) Eco-Award for Industrial Certification at the association’s recent Sealing
Summit in San Antonio, TX. The first-time
award is part of the ISD’s “Go for the Green”
program that presents best-in-class awards to
exhibitors that displayed a product, service or
initiative designed to reduce waste, promote
recycling, minimize carbon footprints or
demonstrate good stewardship.
NEW CONTRACTS
Rotork Supplying Major
Chilean LNG Project
Rotork fluid power valve actuators have been
installed throughout a major new LNG import-
ing and distribution project that is expected to
meet 40% of the demand for gas in Chile and
secure energy independence for the country.
The LNG complex at Quintero Bay encompass-
es the installation of a sea terminal to receive
LNG from tankers and a plant for regassifying
and distribution by pipelines into central Chile.
$80 Million in Nuclear Contracts
Awarded to Velan
Velan Inc. has been awarded several important
contracts amounting to about $80 million for
valves for nuclear power projects in China and
Slovakia. Velan’s Canadian operations have
booked an order for nuclear gate, globe, check
and butterfly valves for the Mochovce nuclear
power plant in Slovakia. This order is in addi-
tion to the previously reported order for main
steam isolation valves for the same nuclear
power plant.
Emerson Process Management Signs
Multi-Year Agreement with Shell
Emerson Process Management has entered
into a five-year global framework agreement
with Shell to serve as the main automation
contractor on future capital projects globally.
Under the agreement, Emerson will provide
project and support services for main automation systems, including distributed control systems and safety instrumented systems. The
contract also provides for ongoing maintenance of existing systems, plus the supply of
new systems for two of Shell’s facilities.
