Tyco Acquires Brazilian Valve Manufacturers
Tyco International Ltd. announced its Flow Control business
has acquired two Brazilian valve companies in a move to
expand its product and service offerings in Brazil and South
America. In connection with the transaction, Tyco Flow Control acquired Hiter Industria e Comercio de Controle Termo-Hidraulico Ltda (Hiter), a leading privately held Brazilian
valve manufacturer, and took full ownership of an existing
joint venture that Tyco Flow Control had with Valvulas Crosby Industria e Comercio Ltda.
Flowserve Signs Joint Venture with
Italian Valve Maker
Flowserve Corp. has entered into a joint venture agreement
with Valbart Srl, an Italian manufacturer of high-perform-ance valves. The agreement was signed in the fourth quarter
of 2009. Manufacturing will take place at a Valbart facility
operated by the joint venture and located in Mezzago, Italy.
Beck Enters Nuclear Industry Alliance with NLI
Harold Beck and Sons Inc. has entered into an alliance with
Nuclear Logistics Incorporated (NLI). The largest third-party
supplier of safety-related equipment in the world, NLI will
offer nuclear-qualified Beck drives for nuclear valve and
damper control needs. A safety qualification program is
underway.

AUTOMATION TECHNOLOGY… has
hired Brent York as vice president of operations and Paul Stephan as controller.
York will manage the operations, engineering, quality assurance and supply
chain functions for ATI. He brings 22
years of global manufacturing and operations experience. Stephan has nearly 30
years of experience in accounting and
ERP implementation, specifically in the
valve automation industry.
GROTH CORPORATION… has appointed
Mitchell Anderson to the position of director of operations. He reports directly to the president of Groth
Corporation and Continental Disc Corporation, Dave
Brown. A graduate of Texas A&M University, Anderson
began his career with Groth Corporation in April 2006 as
a manufacturing engineer and was promoted to engineering manager less than a year later.

PSB Industries Acquires Mikron
PSB Industries Inc. has just concluded its acquisition of
VMA member Mikron Valve & Manufacturing. The merger
will be implemented immediately and will not disrupt the
operation of Mikron’s manufacturing, supply or customer
support functions. PSB designs and manufactures dehydra-
tion and purification equipment.
Cameron Forms Joint Venture with Newmans
Cameron has reached an agreement forming a joint venture
with the owners of Newmans, whose product lines include
Newco, OIC, Cooper and Quadrosphere branded valves and
services. The joint venture will continue operating as Newmans.
Carter Chambers Merging with Desselle-Maggard
PVI, the American subsidiary of Pon Holdings B.V., has
acquired Carter Chambers, LLC, which will merge operations
with Desselle-Maggard (a Valve Repair Council member) in
2010. Both companies are headquartered in Baton Rouge,
LA, and will combine to form one of the largest providers of
valves and industrial automation in the Southeast.
Technetics Joins Garlock Sealing Technologies
EnPro Industries, parent company of Garlock Sealing Technologies, has acquired Technetics Corporation, a manufacturer of abradable seals, brush seals and acoustic products for
turbines used in aerospace and power generation applications. The company is based in Deland, FL and employs about
20 people. It joins Garlock’s High Performance Seals Group.
NEW FACILITIES
Tyco Flow Control Expanding Harlingen Facility
Tyco Flow Control intends to expand its facility in Harlingen,
TX, a move that is expected to create more than 50 new jobs.
The Harlingen facility began operations in 1984 under the
name of Keystone Valve/Anderson Greenwood Co. and celebrated its 25th anniversary last year. Tyco Flow Control plans
on a multi-million dollar investment to add a 33,000-square-
foot expansion and additional equipment to its 80,000-square-
foot facility in Harlingen. The expansion could bring the total
investment in the Harlingen facility to nearly $20 million.
Midland-ACS Opens Fluid Power
Solution Center in Houston
Midland-ACS, a subsidiary of ITT Corp., has opened a new
Fluid Power Solution Center in Houston, TX. The new facility is
