SANITARY, STAINLESS-STEEL
CHECK VALVE
The 3-A sanitary valve from Check-All is an all 316/316L
stainless-steel check valve with a standard 32 Ra or better
finish for use in new or existing sanitary systems. The 3SC
design seals on the ID of sanitary ferrules with 3-A specified
materials (the standard is EPDM). The valve seals inside fittings such as Tri-Clover Bevel Seat, and Tri-Clamp, Waukesha Cherry-Burrell Q-Clamp,
and S-Line and others with
ID dimensions equal to the
“F” dimensions listed.
It is designed to be easily disassembled;
and spare parts
are available.
The compact 3SC
design fits inside a single
set of ferrules and requires no additional space in the line.
The insert design makes the valve quite economical when
compared to full-bodied valves. The wide variety of seat
materials and cracking pressure springs allows this series to
be used as a check valve or vacuum breaker.

EXPLOSION-PROOF POSITIONERS
The Series 3731 valve positioners from Samson Controls
are housed in a rugged explosion-proof enclosure and feature on-site configuration and a high-level of accuracy. They
benefit from low power consumption and can be conveniently configured on site or by using HART communication. A
single rotary pushbutton is all that is
required for start-up;
the button is turned
to select parameters
and pushed to activate them.
This method of
operation can be
used in hazardous
areas because the
shaft design of the
rotary pushbutton
through the housing
is explosion-proof.
An easy-to-read liquid crystal display ensures relevant data
is visible at a glance. Regardless of the valve’s mounting
position, data is never displayed upside down because the
display can be rotated 180° at the push of a button.
DIAGNOSTIC MANAGEMENT
SOFTWARE
Flowserve Corporation recently announced the launch of
Flowserve ValveSight, an asset management solution for
integrated control valves and automated quarter-turn valve
packages. The intelligent diagnostic software significantly
reduces unexpected
plant or process
downtime by predicting potential
failure modes and
prioritizing condi-tion-based maintenance before performance of the
working process can
degrade. ValveSight
reduces maintenance costs of preventative and break-fix activities by ensuring that actions are focused on solving root causes and not
just symptoms. Most importantly, the software improves
safety and environmental compliance by identifying critical
issues before they occur.
It continuously captures rich diagnostic data from the
valve, actuator, positioner and control signal while the
process is running and displays the data in an intuitive
graphical user interface. The software is able to recognize
data patterns that indicate an eroding service condition
before a process variable reaches an out-of-tolerance level,
and translates that condition into actionable device-specific
maintenance advice.

VAPOR-REDUCING ORIFICES
Conval’s custom-engineered, multi-stage
Whisperjets reduce vapor or liquid pressure
without causing component wear. Whisperjets discharge system fluid through a series
of multi-pressure reduction stages. Each section has four to six orifices around a perimeter. The orifices discharge inwardly, which
allows flow streams to impinge on each other
rather than on the sections themselves. This
reduces pressure in stages and prevents critical pressure drop from occurring, which serves to minimize
erosion by limiting the velocity.
Whisperjets are available through ASME Class 4500 in
a variety of sizes, with socket weld or butt weld ends. Standard materials are carbon steel A105, low alloy SA 182-
F22, F91 and stainless.
