Emerson’s Rosemount Named
Thomson Reuters 2011 Top 100
Global Innovator
Emerson Process Management’s Rosemount
business unit was named a Thomson Reuters
2011 Top 100 Global Innovator. The program, an initiative issued by the IP Solutions
business of Thomson Reuters, analyzes patent
data and related metrics in a proprietary
methodology to scientifically identify the
most influential organizations globally.
The Thomson Reuters 2011 Top Global
Innovators program evaluates innovation performance according to companies that invent
on a significant scale, work on developments
that are acknowledged as innovative by others
around the world, and whose inventions are
globally protected due to their importance.
AUMA Achieves Top 10 in
European Business Awards
The parent company of AUMA Actuators,
Inc., AUMA Riester GmbH & Co. KG, has
achieved a Top 10 placement in the highly
competitive European Business Awards. The
awards were determined by a panel of emi-
nent business leaders, academics, politicians
and journalists. Competing against global
blue-chip companies, the Top 10 ranking for
AUMA is a major achievement for the medi-
um-sized company, headquartered in Mull-
heim, Baden, Germany.
Spirax Sarco Wins 2011
Plant Engineering Product of
the Year Award
The TVA Target Variable Area flowmeter has
been selected as a winner in the 2011 Plant
Engineering Product of the Year contest. This
product was selected from among this year’s
entries as one of the most outstanding new
products of 2011. Companies submit appli-
cations to Plant Engineering magazine each
year for consideration as a Product of the
Year. Winners are chosen by a panel of
industry experts based on the entries
received. Winners received their awards
on March 26, 2012 at the Plant Engineering
Manufacturing/Automation Summit held in
Chicago.

Emerson Automating Chinese
Waste-to-Energy Facility
Emerson Process Management has received a
contract from the Shanghai Laogang Refuse
Incineration Co. to automate what will be one
of the largest waste-to-energy facilities in
China. With a capacity of 3,000 tons of
municipal solid waste per day, the facility will
provide a more desirable alternative to landfill
waste generated by the area’s burgeoning pop-
ulation and economy. The facility is expected
to be operational in June 2013.
AUMA Supporting World’s
Largest Hydraulic Project
AUMA has been selected to support the
world’s largest hydraulic project, which is in
Venezuela. Known as Tuy System IV, the
project includes a compacted concrete dam
275 feet (84 meters) high on the river Cuira
in Miranda state. The pipeline is up to 118
inches ( 3 meters) in diameter and is 45 miles
(72 kilometers) in length.
Inauguration of the work is scheduled for
June 2012. Water will eventually be transported to people living and working in
Caracas, Miranda and Vargas states.
The project represents a total investment
of $382.3 million by the Bolivarian
government.
