GE’s Becker ESD Valve Product Line
Receives Sil 3 Safety Certification
GE announced
that its Becker
Emergency
Shutdown
Valve (ESD)
offering has
received an
important safety certification—the IEC
61508 Safety Integrity Level 3 (SIL 3). The
SIL 3 certification was performed and
awarded by Exida.
An SIL rating measures the ability of a
system to reduce the overall level of process
risk in safety applications. GE’s SIL 3-certi-
fied Becker ESD valve incorporates the
Becker Full Port Ball valve as well as the
Becker VRP-SB-GAP and Masoneilan SVI

FLOWSERVE… announced a
new operational leadership structure, resulting in senior leadership
changes. Thomas L. Pajonas, formerly senior vice president and
president of the Flow Control
Division, has assumed the role of
chief operating officer and is
responsible for both the Flow Control Division and
the Flow Solutions Group (including the Engineered Product Division and the Industrial Product Division), which comprise all company operations. He will retain the title of senior vice
president and continue to report to Mark Blinn.
Meanwhile, former VP of marketing for the
flow control division of Flowserve, Kyle Ahlfinger,
has joined Kaman Industrial Technologies
Corporation as area vice president of its Minarik
Division.
CAMERON… joint venture Newmans has
named Bill Penhale national sales manager U.S.
for Distributed Valves–Industrial and Newmans
products. Penhale will be based in Houston, sharing time between Briarpark and Stafford.
For the past four years Penhale has been with
Kinetrol USA. Prior to that position, he worked for
Emerson Process Management’s Bettis Actuators
and Controls for 20 years serving in several positions, including regional manager, North Asia manager, director of Asia Pacific and director of global
valve OEM sales while at Bettis.
II ESD products. GE formally integrated its
Becker ESD valve product line in February
2011 when GE completed its $3 billion
acquisition of Dresser, Inc.
Fieldbus Foundation Announces
First H1 ITK 6.0 Registered Devices
The Fieldbus Foundation has registered the
first Foundation fieldbus devices based on its
H1 Interoperability Test Kit (ITK) Version
6.0.Emerson Process Management and
Yokogawa supplied the registered H1 ( 31. 25
kbit/s) devices, which were tested for func-tionality and conformity with the Foundation
function block and transducer block specifications. Emerson’s registered devices include
the Top Worx D2-FF Discrete Valve Controller and the Rosemount Analytical 1066
pH Transmitter.
GREDE HOLDINGS… Anthony (Tony) Lovell
Grede vice president of global sales and marketing,
was named the winner of the Marketing and Sales
Executives of Detroit Platinum Award. The award
in the “individual” category recognizes a person
who has been “instrumental in successfully marketing and selling a new product or service, or an
existing product or service to a new market.”
CRANE ENERGY FLOW SOLUTIONS… has
recently hired Javier Suarez to serve as global
business line manager–Cast Steel Valves, based in
The Woodlands, TX. Suarez will lead the business
management and brand strategy of the company’s
cast steel product range. He has 13 years of experience in the energy and oil and gas sectors, and 17
years in management leadership roles.
VALVTECHNOLOGIES… Valv Technologies
has added Les Davis and Matt Davis to its Nuclear
Sales Team. The Davis brothers bring over 40 years
of combined experience in nuclear sales and operations. Matt Davis, Nuclear Midwest territory manager, has 21 years in a wide range of positions having served in valve maintenance, project
management, program engineering, field services
(diagnostics) sales and sales management. Les
Davis, Nuclear Northeast territory manager, joins
Valv Technologies with 20 years experience in the
nuclear and fossil valve industries serving in all
aspects of valve maintenance, millwright, project
management, field services (diagnostics) sales and
sales management.
