ENHANCES SAFETY
Emerson Process Management introduces a new
offering to the vortex flowmeter family, the Rose-
mount 8800D CriticalProcess Vortex flowmeter,
designed to increase plant availability and enhance
overall safety. This new flowmeter
enhances online vortex sensor
maintainability, while providing
an added level of safety on critical
applications.
The vortex sensor in this flowmeter
is isolated from the process, making it
possible to maintain the
vortex sensor without
requiring a process shut-
down, greatly increasing
process availability. Sen-
sor verification and
maintenance can be cost-
ly on traditional vortex
applications. With traditional vortex flowmeters,
users typically need to shut down or bypass their
process in order to verify performance of the vortex
sensor.

Endress+Hauser
announces the
Deltatop differen-
tial pressure (DP)
flowmeter for
measuring gas, liq-
uid and steam in
½- to 24-inch
pipes. Deltatop
features precision-
machined orifice
plate primary
devices complete
with flanged unions, manifold and transmitter—
designed specifically for applications in accordance
with ASME B16.36. These primary elements are
designed to safely and accurately measure flow on
liquid, gas or steam. These flow solutions are avail-
able in class 300# to 2400# flanges.
The accuracy of the volumetric flow in this product is achieved through the development of a theoretical model of flow coefficients that have been
proven through empirical test data and verified by
independent laboratories.

ULTRASONIC PRODUCT FOR
HYDROCARBON INDUSTRY
Siemens Industry, Inc. has recently introduced to
the U.S. market a new ultrasonic flowmeter for the
hydrocarbon industry, the Sitrans FUT1010, which
features the nearly maintenance-free TransLoc
mounting system.
The mounting system allows the transducers to
be mounted on the outside of the pipe, preventing
contact with the medium. This approach enables the
externally mounted transducers to be calibrated for
higher accuracy. It also has the additional benefit
that it alleviates clogging of cavities by high paraffin liquids, which is typically seen in conventional
flowmeters used in hydrocarbon applications.
TransLoc also ensures less maintenance and downtime, leading to low cost of ownership and improved
return on investment.

STEAM FLOW METER FOR HVAC
AND CO-GENERATION
The V-Cone Steam Flow Meter from McCrometer is
ideal for Campus District Energy Facilities and
eliminates many of the common equipment layout
problems associated with steam processes in HVAC
and electric power co-generation systems. Providing
precision steam flow measurement, the flowmeter is
designed for steam process lines connecting boilers
with HVAC systems or co-generation energy systems. At the same time, its self-conditioning flow
design eliminates most of the straight-pipe requirements often needed with many flowmeter technologies by controlling swirl and other flow disturbances
in the pipe that affect measurement accuracy.
The V-Cone is accurate to ±0.5%, with a
repeatability of ±0.1%, and requires only 0-3 pipe
straight diameters upstream and 0-1 diameters
downstream from the meter. Nearly all other types
of flowmeters require as many as 10 pipe straight
diameters upstream and 5 pipe diameters downstream from the meter. In today’s crowded campus
district energy equipment environments, this
flowmeter typically reduces real estate, piping
material, associated pipe support structure and
installation labor by 50% or more.
