Flowserve Receives Orders
for Desalination Projects
Flowserve Corp. recently received
two major orders involving the
desalination market.
The company will be providing
CALDER Dual Work Exchanger
Energy Recovery (DWEER)
units, valued at approximately
$10 million, for the Sorek seawater desalination plant in
Israel. With a capacity of 139.6 trillion gallons per year,
Sorek is the largest such plant in the world featuring isobaric chamber recovery system technology.
Flowserve has also booked an order for plug valves for
the Southern Seawater Desalination Plant near Perth, Australia. The plant plans to use manual and automated plug
seal valves for its high-pressure processes. Output is
designed to bring 140,000 cubic meters of fresh water daily
to residents of the greater Perth region. This is 50 billion
liters of potable water annually, with the ability to expand to
100 billion liters.

Dresser Awarded Control Valve Contracts from
Nuclear Power Plants
Velan Wins Nuclear Control Valve Contract
Velan Inc. has been awarded a contract valued at more than
$6 million with CNPEC for 124 nuclear bellows seal control
valves (DN 8 to DN 300) for two third-generation EPR
plants in Taishan, People’s Republic of China. The control
valves are designed and manufactured by Velan’s French
subsidiary located in Lyon.
“These control valves are designed and manufactured to
very specific requirements,” said Michel Monier, Velan’s
director of nuclear projects for China.
Cincinnati Chamber Honors Richards Industries
The Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber honored the region’s
top small businesses at its 15th annual Small Business Excellence Awards luncheon at the Millennium Hotel in downtown
Cincinnati. In total, 22 companies were recognized, and
Richards Industries took home the top honor for Small Business of the Year for companies with 51 to 250 employees.
Curtiss-Wright Flow Control’s Langseder
Receives Nimitz Award
The Navy League of the United States presented
its 2010 Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz Award
for exemplary leadership in the maritime
defense industry to Curtiss-Wright Flow Control
Executive Richard Langseder at the Navy League Sea-Air-Space Exposition dinner on May 4. The dinner and award
ceremony were held at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, MD.
Langseder is senior vice president of business development at Curtiss-Wright Flow Control Company. He is
responsible for the company’s strategic planning and for
driving new business opportunities and technologies. During
his 43-year tenure with the company, he has held a number
of senior management positions.

CAMERON VALVES & MEASUREMENT… has
appointed Eleanor Ryan-Jones as vice president, marketing for the Valves & Measurement group (V&M). In this
role, Ryan-Jones will work closely with the four V&M
divisions on marketing initiatives including strategies for
existing and new markets, industry and market analysis,
branding and communications, marketing services and
specialized programs.
CRANE ENERGY FLOW SOLUTIONS…
has named Tony Favilla as general manager, Industrial Valve Group. This is a return
to Crane for Favilla after two years with
Conbraco Industries/Apollo Valves. In this
newly created role, he will have direct
responsibility for the Flowseal, Duo-Chek,
Crane, Center Line, Aloyco, Jenkins and Stockham
brands. Favilla will lead the sales and marketing teams in
executing long-term growth plans for key industrial products in the North American market and will work closely
with the global specialty valve products group.
