If Water is Involved, It will be Discussed at WEFTEC 11
The 84th Annual Water Environment Federal Technical Exhibition and Conference (WEFTEC), which is Oct. 15 to 19 in
the Los Angeles Convention Center, features an unprecedented number of technical sessions and educational opportunities. The conference brings together over 18,000 leading
water and wastewater professionals to discuss technical
advances, the latest practices and issues in their field.
The conference is the world’s largest water quality event
and this year, there will be 115 technical sessions as well as
27 workshops and eight local facility tours. The 2011 focus
areas include facility operations and wastewater treatment;
nutrients; collection systems; residuals and biosolids; utility
management; water reuse and management; stormwater and
green infrastructure; sustainability and energy management;
industrial wastewater; watershed management; and more. In
addition, WEFTEC’s exhibition provides access to more than
1,000 exhibiting companies and their technical experts showing the latest developments, research, solutions, and cutting-edge technologies in the field.
Opening the event are two speakers who will address the
vital connection between clean water and public health from ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
two different perspectives. They are Rita Colwell, a University
of Maryland/John Hopkins University’s Bloomberg School of
Public Health professor and a known expert on water-borne
disease who has done groundbreaking research and helped
develop advanced technology to battle them; and Doc Henley,
founder and president of Wine To Water, a nonprofit that has
raised unprecedented amounts to establish water systems
around the world.
