Dresser Consolidated to Supply Valves
for Nuclear Reactor, Offshore Platform
Westinghouse Electric Company LLC has
chosen Dresser Consolidated as the main
steam safety valve supplier for four AP1000
pressurized water reactors in the United
States. Dresser Consolidated’s Type 3700
Maxiflow main steam safety valves will be
delivered to AP1000 nuclear power plant
sites in Georgia and South Carolina between
2012 and 2014.
In addition, Dresser Consolidated has
been selected as relief valve supplier for a
major oil company’s offshore drilling and
production tension-leg platform in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico. The company will supply its Type 3900 modular pilot-operated
safety relief valves, which will provide over-pressure protection for the main production
and gas lift manifold of the platform.
Automation Technology, Inc. Receives
Contract from Fisher Sanmar Limited
In October, Automation Technology, Inc.
signed an order with Fisher Sanmar Limited
for 68 pneumatic spring return actuators.
This order will be used for the ONGC Petro-additions Ltd. (OPAL) refinery project in
India. OPAL partnered with Dahej in 2007 to
create a new petrochemicals plant in India.
The plant, when completed in 2012, will produce 2 million tons of butene, butadiene, benzene, etc. annually. The actuators will be
completed and shipped in early 2011.
Tyco Flow Control Supplying Valves to
Nuclear Power Plants in China
Tyco Flow Control was recently awarded more
than $13 million in contracts from China’s
State Nuclear Power Engineering Company
Ltd., China Nuclear Power Engineering Co.
and the China Nuclear Power Engineering
Corp. to provide valves and controls for 26
new nuclear reactor projects in China.
In addition, Tyco Flow Control recently
expanded its manufacturing capabilities
beyond its traditional facilities in North
America and Europe. This enables the company to produce more products locally in
China and other emerging markets. A portion
of these newly contracted valves will be manufactured at Tyco Flow Control’s manufacturing facility in Shanghai.
Weir to Form Chinese Joint Venture
Focused on Shale Gas
The Weir Group PLC and Shengli Oilfield
Highland Petroleum Equipment Co. Ltd.
announce the formation of a joint venture to
provide high-pressure well service pumps
and related flow control equipment to the
developing shale gas industry in China.
The joint venture is expected to begin
operations in the first half of 2011, subject
to regulatory approvals. Weir will own 60%
and Highland will own 40% of the venture,
which will be based in Dongying, Shandong
Province, China.

Groth Corp. Opens New
Manufacturing Plant in India
Groth Corporation and Continental Disc
Corporation have opened a new manufac-
turing facility, Groth Continental Manufac-
turing Private Limited (GCMPL) in Ahmed-
abad, India. This new plant will provide
manufacturing capabilities for both Groth
Corporation and Continental Disc Corpora-
tion portfolio products. All products pro-
duced at GCMPL will be manufactured in
accordance with existing quality standards
currently met by Groth Corporation and
Continental Disc Corporation. GCMPL
recently completed the initial ISO
9001:2008 audit and is awaiting the final
certificate.
Flowserve to Expand
Manufacturing Capabilities
Flowserve Corporation is expanding its
manufacturing facility in Raleigh, NC, to
increase capacity and improve operational
efficiency.
The latest nuclear plant designs incorporate larger valves, weighing as much as
67,000 pounds ( 30,390 kilograms) and
standing more than 20 feet ( 6. 1 meters)
tall. Flowserve will add about 16,000
square feet of manufacturing space to the
existing Raleigh facility, allowing for the
installation of new machine tools to more
efficiently manufacture large valve components, as well as increase space for inspection, assembly and testing.
