Weir Group Acquires Seaboard
Holdings Inc. for $675 Million
The Weir Group PLC has agreed to acquire
Seaboard Holdings Inc., an independent
wellhead solutions provider focused on the
growing North American unconventional oil
and gas drilling and production markets, for
$675 million.
Based in Houston, Seaboard manufactures engineered wellhead and pressure control equipment for the oil and natural gas
exploration and production industries. The
company also provides associated field and
support services, including equipment rental
Grede Completes Acquisition of
Industrial Foundry
Grede Holdings LLC has completed the
acquisition of the foundry and machining
assets of Paxton-Mitchell Corporation, an
industrial foundry and machining facility in
Omaha, NE. The facility will be called Grede
Omaha LLC. The facility currently employs
75 people and is expected to expand in 2012
as additional business is transferred into
Omaha from other Grede foundries.

Emerson Receives Valve Order for
Rabigh Power Project in Saudi Arabia
Emerson Process Management has received
a purchase order valued at more than $10
million for Fisher control valves to be used in
Saudi Electricity Company’s (SEC) Rabigh
Power Plant No. 2 project. The contract was
awarded by Doosan Heavy Industries of
Korea, the project’s engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor. The
2800MW (700MW X 4) power plant with an
investment of $3.4 billion is one of the major
initiatives by SEC to meet the growing energy demand in Saudi Arabia.

Velan Awarded Nuclear Valve
Contracts Worth $16.2 Million
Velan SAS, Velan Inc.’s wholly owned subsidiary in Lyon, France, has been selected by
CNPEC (China Nuclear Power Engineering Co.
Ltd.). As a result, the CNEIC (China Nuclear
Energy Industry Corporation) awarded a contract to Velan for the supply of nuclear-classi-fied gate and globe valves for the two new
nuclear power plants of FuQing Units 3 and 4
located in Fujian province, China. The products
to be supplied are mainly high-pressure forged
valves with electric or pneumatic actuators for
service inside nuclear containment.
Velan also signed contract amendments
with CNPEC for the third-generation CEPR
(European Pressurized Reactor) nuclear
power plant under construction at Taishan
and has been awarded aftermarket contracts
from DNMC (Daya Bay Nuclear Power
Operations and Management Co.) for onsite
nuclear services, including the safety upgrade
of a competitor’s nuclear valves at LingAo
units 3 and 4.
Metso Secures Service Contract for
Valves from Arcelor Mittal in Brazil
Metso and Arcelor Mittal Tubarão, located in
Espirito Santo State, Brazil, have signed a
service contract covering about 2,000 automatic and safety valves. The contract also
includes intelligent tools for preventive and
predictive maintenance and maintenance
planning activities. It expands the existing
contract and is one of the largest for Metso’s
valve operations in South America.

FLOWSERVE…has named Michael S. Taff senior vice president and chief financial officer.
Taff most recently served as senior vice president and chief financial officer for The Babcock &
Wilcox Company.
ROTORK…announced the appointment of a new sales director, Tim Bessex. He will be based
at Rotork’s head office in Bath, England and will be responsible for global sales for Rotork
Controls, the electric valve actuation division. Bessex takes over from Carlos Elvira, who has
moved to his new position as group sales director. Bessex’s last role was global sales manager
working for the nuclear part of the business.
